I just had a strange Twitter experience, and felt like throwing it out for discussion. I will say up front that I bear no ill will to the account that blocked me. That's the beauty of Twitter - you're free to do just about anything you want - the flexibility to customize your user experience is second to none. I do think, though, that this could be an interesting topic for discussion.
This morning, I noticed that
@Tshirtbordello had unfollowed me. I had actually had a bit of interaction with them recently, as they sell a bacon wallet and I sell a bacon tee.
They tweeted this to me seven days ago:
Tshirtbordello @EastsideRJ @RizzoTees Your bacon tee goes perfectly w/ our bacon wallet
bit.ly/tkBQG
Then, six days ago, I actually got a Followfriday from them!
Tshirtbordello #FF @RizzoTees & @EastsideRJ Because they get why bacon should be in your wardrobe
Then, two days ago, they did a Retweet for me:
Tshirtbordello RT @RizzoTees @financialjesus Chuck Norris doesn't need twitter, he is already following you
This interaction seemed nothing short of chummy! When I pulled up their profile today, I noticed that I wasn't following them - an oversight on my part, really. So I tried to follow them, and it said I had been blocked. Whether or not you like one's tees, I like to remain close to anyone in the tee biz (unless they're jerks LOL).
I was concerned that I might have done something to upset them, but I couldn't think of anything controversial I had done lately. I thought getting blocked by them was strange, so I sent them this email:

mail to Tshirtbordello:
Hi guys,
I noticed on Twitter that you had unfollowed me (which is perfectly OK!). But I tried to follow you and noticed that I was blocked. I just wanted to ask if there was something I had done to upset you. I normally don't care about this sort of thing, but I like to keep good relations with all of my fellow tee brothers.
Please let me know, if you would not mind.
Thanks!

Pretty quickly, I got this response:
From Tshirtbordello:
Chris,
Looking at the number of followers/following it looks spammy to me and I don't digg it. I try to keep the twitter experience valuable for me and others that follow us. The "I follow you and you follow me" is just spam in a different form. Everyone has their ideas of how to do it though.
Good luck,

Everyone has their own way of using Social Media. I don't consider myself a spammy guy, but hey, what do I know? It's not the first time I've been blocked, nor will it be the last. I get unfollowed all the time, like we all do. Blocking an account in an extra step that you usually take for a particular reason.
Any thoughts here? Something just doesn't add up.
